8.1. List of scientific research and creative achievements




    1. Studies of Mathematical Physics


The research and scientific work in the field of Mathematical Physics as mostly focused on such topics as parabolic/elliptic multidimensional problems and elaboration of effective analytical and numerical methods for solution thereof.


    1. Project „Atmosphere process modelling in various scales” (MUSCATEN)

The project involves 12 scientific institutions from Northern countries and Europe and is devoted to description of air layer dynamics.


    1. Project „Parallel Monte-Carlo method for critical phenomena description in the multiple particle systems” DEISA

DEISA is the consortium of leading European computer centres and about 180 of European scientific and research institutes use it successfully. This project is devoted to elaboration of parallel algorithms in order to solve various critical phenomena with the help of super computers.


    1. ESF financed projects

Within the activity “Attraction human resources to science” a project “Elaboration of effective methods for solution of direct and inverse problems of Mathematical Physics in the field of Material Environmental and Economical sciences” is implemented. The project includes six independent problems to be researched.


    1. ERDF financed projects

The project is implemented within the activity “Support of science and research”. It is called “New technologies and software elaboration for optimisation of biogas production process”. Biogas is one of the most popular renewable energy resource.

    1. State ordered researches


Educational Ministry (EDM) project 2007/03, EDM project 2008/07 Higher Performance Computation Methods for environment and traffic flow dynamics; leader J. Rimšāns

The project is devoted to elaboration of a program code for effective numerical method parallel computing in the field of biological and traffic processes

EDM project 2007/04; 2008/08 Stable analytical and numerical technologies for elaboration of determined and probavility systems in inverse problem research, leader Š.Guseinovs

The project is devoted to elaboration of analytical and numerical methods in the fiels of heat transfer (diffusion, advection, reaction).

EDM project 2007/05; 2008/09 Theoretical and experimental researches of physical and technological properties of the porous silicon acquired in electrodissociation, leader J.Kaupužs

The project is devoted to elaboration of numerical and analytical methods in the field of heat conduction and Fokker-Planck equations.

8.2. The planned aequipment for the physics and renewable resource laboratories


For development of infrastructure in the 2010/2011 year procurement of Information, Computer and Laboratory Equipment is anticipated for ERDF project "Liepaja University infrastructure and learning equipment modernisation in the priority directions for quality improve, by providing the equal opportunity principle and universal accessibility" No 2010/0107/3DP/3.1.2.1.1./09/IPIA/VIAA/010 with total budget of 1820514 Ls, and from the finances thereof it is anticipated to procure Physics laboratory equipment in amount of 82263 Ls for Mechanics, Molecular Physics, Electrical Phenomena, Optics Phenomena research and laboratory works, as well as equipment for research in the field of renewable energy in amount of 55000 Ls.
